Tuesday June 16--- Access (Worksite) Day

Editor Note: This is a long blog post.

    Good evening, Framily,

Will-

Today we started our day waking up at 7AM to be ready for breakfast at 7:30 AM. We ate banana bread, a mix of leftover casseroles, fresh fruit and cereal.

After breakfast we had Morning Watch. [Remember, this is a time to connect with God through quiet scripture reading with questions to reflect about.]

We then departed to the worksite around 9 AM where there were two separate groups.

"The CIA", which is my group spent our day at our homeowner's house where were tasked to rebuilding a fence, mow a very overgrown lawn, and place boards on the lower interior of the fence to prevent our homeowners 3 dogs from digging out.

While working we learned to use many different tools (saws, drills, and speed squares) and to work together to build something useful and important.

I thought this would be a simple, but it proved quite time consuming. We ended up having to redo things a few times because of silly mistakes.

I really enjoyed getting to work together with my church friends, getting to make new friends with some of our counselors, and bonding with our adult leaders.

After we got done with the work, we decided it would be a great idea to go get some ice cream. We went to a small locally owned ice cream shop. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and we all had a whole lot of fun.

Zoe-

Today we had a full day of fun that healed my, heart. With my new and old friends, Will, Mackenzie, and A'leeah, we served at our homeowner's house to fix her fence by putting boards on the bottom of the fence after we removed some boards that were rotten and mow her very overgrown steep hill.

I was able to cut some wood today and take some boards out and then replaced it.

After the long day under the sun and fixing stuff for our homeowner, we finished the day off with some ice cream at a local ice cream shop and enjoyed it under some shade.

At the end of the day, I had an amazing and such a fun day with the homeowner, and her 4 kids were so sweet, and I am so blessed for all that God has been doing and how he has been moving in my heart.

I enjoyed the day and learned a big lesson that even if you are lonely or struggling to do things that your neighbors and community will be there for you and help you when you need the help.

Lincoln-
I woke up very tired and sleepy. Breakfast made it better because I like eggs and sausage. Once we ended breakfast, we said our goodbyes and we were off to our different worksites.

We were helping the Shelton family and got to play with their cute and handy little girls. We helped by tearing down window frames, tearing down windows, and used a crowbar to tear down debris off an old trailer home that was sadly destroyed by Hurricane Helene. I got a lot of help from Mr. Josh Dunbar today. I am very thankful for him.

We also had a special guest. A ROOSTER! He was very grumpy and made weird pterodactyl noises that scared the girls (of course not the guys, we're very brave).

Overall great day and a lot accomplished. The team is very happy with their work and would love to come back and do more. (P.S very proud of the team today.)

All Authors-

After ice cream we all headed back and enjoyed a nice shower with our new shower trailer. Then we had some free time and dinner. We had Italian tonight and some brownies for dessert.   The adults then had a group session after dinner, and the kids had some free time to talk and get to know each other some more.

Following this, we divided into our CMG's for small groups where we talked about how you can always hear God in a WHISPER and in silence.

We transitioned to worship outside, self- reflection (an activity where we sat somewhere alone and just listen and see what all of us was around), and a whole group reflection where we shared how we saw God.

There were some tears that were shed.... but that was God working and moving in everyone.

We closed the evening with prayer and lights out.
