Tuesday July 21st Working with our Neighbors

(From Catherine)

Hello church family! We finished day 3 of our mission journey!! Today we started our day with some yummy cinnamon rolls where we got to ice them ourselves (along with bacon and eggs). After our normal morning activities our CMG’s headed out to help separate neighbors.

My CMG went to a neighbor Ms. Sandy. She is living with her son chad and they are getting ready to sell the house. We worked on fixing a platform for them and also redoing a whole staircase! We ran into a few hiccups along the way but were able to fix them with teamwork! We only have 1 hour left of work after today that we will take on Thursday monring!! After we got done our CMG got a treat at the local ice cream shop. Once we got back we did our normal evening activities.

Tonight worship was outside which was really cool!

Hello! Today on the job site we helped Davonte with some yard work around his house. We spent about 5 hours mowing, weed eating, and cleaning up trash. The best part was being able to share lunch with one of the family members where we talked about his life as well as various sports teams. What a great opportunity to help serve those in our community!

(From Matt)

Footnotes ... The team is "midweek tired" but our hearts are full. We have several relational opportunities  but the team is working through them and growing as part of it. Our small group time is rich with reflection and discussion. Our. quiet times are meaningful. I am proud of the teams in that they are prioritizing relationships over work. They are also integrating with the other group we have here and that is great to witness. Dinner last night was lasagne and the ovens were messing up. The whole group showed resilience as the CC staff refactored and cooked them offsite and the group here keep their spirits as they waited patiently for dinner served about 1 hour behind schedule. Just an example of the spirit of this group and the leaders.

Please pray for rest and recovery. Please pray for us to hear God's voice in the quiet reflections and whispers ... from new experiences and new relationships. From existing relationships that are strengthened.

- with love from the July Mission Team
