Wednesday July 22nd Serving and Working with our new Neighbors

Hello! We had a great day today! We spent most of the day at Hayward St.! At Hayward St. we served baked ziti and chicken and also peach cobbler for dessert!! Before we served we got a tour of the fresco which was very cool to see the many details!! While we were serving we met a lot of new friends.

I learned a lot from Jonathan and “crow”. Those were the two new friends I learned the most from. While we were there we went to one of the worship services! That was a very cool experience!! We did a short debrief after all the new friends left.

After Hayward St. we stopped for some quick coffee break before heading back to Abernathy. When we got back to camp we showered and ate a yummy dinner! After that, we went up to the sanctuary to worship where we talked about how the day filled our cup! Now it’s time to close my eyes! We will see you tomorrow!!!

Hello everybody! We have now completed day 4 of our Mission Journey here in Asheville. We spent most of today helping serve food down at Haywood Street. A lot of conversations were had with the people we helped serve about all sorts of topics, including everything from sports and entertainment to God and religion.

We participated in a sermon at Haywood, which was a very different experience then our sermons back home. It began with members of the congregation volunteering to sing whatever was on their hearts, including singing the Lord's prayer. Throughout the sermon, members would raise their hand and ask about or add onto the sermon. We ended the day with a southern buffet and s'mores before we went into sharing time and worship. I think it's pretty safe to say that everyone had a great time today hanging out with our neighbors, new and old.
